Convincing your teen to step away from the electronics to plant a garden might not be an easy task. But if you provide the opportunity, tools, and encouragement, your teen might learn to love gardening. The best news is, you don't necessarily need a large yard to start a garden with your teen.
The Society for the Advancement of Volunteer Youth, SAVY, provides students 14 to 17 years of age with the opportunity to volunteer within their community while gaining experience in a variety of career fields. Applicants must submit a completed Moody Gardens SAVY Volunteer application with at least two letters of recommendation from non-relatives and a copy of their most recent report card. Once the application is received in full, the applicant will be contacted to attend a required SAVY Open House and schedule a personal interview with Volunteer Services.

Each year nearly volunteers give over 95 thousand hours to the Dallas Arboretum. We simply could not do what we do without their dedication to service.
The Longwood Teen Volunteer Program is an eight-week summer program that provides high school students with an opportunity to become part of the Longwood Team. Participants will gain work experience and learn leadership skills in a positive and enriching environment. While working in this positive, fast-paced environment, teens will have the opportunity to earn volunteer hours, give back to the community, and make new friends.

SAGE is a service program for students ages 14— Outdoor Youth Corps is a community action project for ages 16—24 centered around serving the participants' neighborhood. H2O is a fun and educational program for kids in grades 6—8 to become more familiar with natural settings by focusing on ecosystems at the Shaw Nature Reserve and instruction in outdoor skills.

Anne-Marie was rapidly running out of space in her home. With three children, and two in their early teens, she was in need of some extra space. The very nature of Garden Rooms is their versatility and multipurpose use.
